Cheap OSD for Phantom 2 through CANBUS

Thanks. Many people now know about the N1-OSD, but of all the alternatives to the DJI one (and I probably considered nearly all of them), this N3 has got to be the best bang for the buck.

Looked like you were so low you were getting bounce back from the ground effect of the air hitting the ground and pushing the FC40 back up. You can fly little indoor quads like that at about 6 inches off the ground like little hovercraft. :)

If your Phantom is very light, the P2 gains might make it feel a bit too reactive, but as it apparently isn't, it needs these values (or something like them) to deal with carrying that extra weight about. All the gains are is 'Speed of response to change". You put in lower values and it responds...

    First P3Pro Video Productions

Nice. If you're shooting in 4k, do you really need to export it at anything larger than 1080p? Depends on your (prospective) clients of course, but on laptops, tablets. etc. no one will really notice if it's larger. If 1080p was acceptable, you could experiment with zooming in a little in a few...

For a light 3-axis Gimbal that won't break the bank and will hopefully work OK (better than that last disappointment, the DYS Smart gimbal), the FY 3D Mini is a possibility. I've got one on order, but looks like they're not quite in stock yet and only 'beta testers' are getting them. But...

N1-OSD for Phantom and Naza FCs

OK, so smaller but still twice as expensive as the N1.:( http://www.goodluckbuy.com/fpv-flight-controller-n1-osd-module-for-dji-naza-v1-v2-naza-lite-gps.html I know it has more features, but that's why I tried the N3, but you do need a Phantom 2 or a Canbus Hub in a different aircraft (F450 /...

Have you changed your gains? When you're effectively trying to recreate a Phantom 2 then it might perform better using Phantom 2 gains to carry that extra weight about.

N1-OSD for Phantom and Naza FCs

The S-OSD isn't related to the N1-OSD. It's the Remzibi, which is very different, as well as twice the price. No idea what the Mini S-OSD is, unless its a smaller version of the same thing.

N1-OSD for Phantom and Naza FCs

Yes,that's them. Signal was just broadcast and received with the Phantom right next to me on the table. ;)

Sorry, only remember reading about someone doing it about 2 years ago. Since the Phantom 2 arrived I guess it's not been such a priority for people to put the larger batteries in. Don't think it should be too hard though, as I think all you'd need to do would be to reverse the FC and wire up the...

N1-OSD for Phantom and Naza FCs

No voice, decided text was better than me droning on. It's a lot easier to emphasize things with text and arrows and for people to pause and write things down than going: "What'd he say??" That was just done with photos taken from an 8" FPV monitor. All the animations of the arrows etc. was...

Reliable upgrades to my Phantom 1.1.1

If you're going to add really big batteries and larger doors, then you really want to think about flipping your Phantom around inside the case and effectively 'flying it backwards', except it won't be, it'll be forwards, because you reversed all the internals. The reason for this is: too much...

Thanks for the +1, I may do more of these. You'll also find an N3-OSD video on my channel for P2 owners with a CANBUS hub. If you can stand to click on an advert after you've seen it, I'd appreciate it mightily. $1 per 1000 views doesn't pay the bills very quickly and those videos took hours. ;)

N1-OSD for Phantom and Naza FCs

Shameless plug for my video, but if you want a cheap OSD for your Phantom then the N1-OSD is pretty good. No Horizon display, but Battery Voltage and %, Direction diamond/arrows, Climb rate, Lat and Long, Flight Timer, Satellite Count etc. etc. is very useful. Works with all Naza FCs and is...
