It is nice of you to try and find the owner. BUT you said it has been over a year since it was found?? The owner has moved on to new and improved. If you don't want it, give to someone who might needs parts to fix theirs.

I had the same problem after changing the ribbon cable.. I just reconnected all four points on the cable and then it worked. But if connections are all good then binding might be the answer as mentioned by DBK

Have you decided what you are going to do? I might be interested in the whole thing or just the gimbal.
