Seems to me that having cell turned on is a potential problem. I'd hate to see an incoming call popup or a text popup while I am flying. For that reason, I keep it turned off.

This will only apply to your video problem, not the firmware update process. Try turning off video caching.

+1 on this. APP on IOS, Android or otherwise is just a display for the most part. If you have a green light on controller, you still have control. No green light, (red), all bets are off and you hope for RTH.

I'm going off the OP. It said: "When pushing to left the drone goes right. When pushing right it goes left. Sometimes when pushing forward it goes forward and other times it comes back." That made me think of orientation.

The front of the P3 is the two arms with the stripes on them. The camera also faces forward. Face those away from you and right should right and left should be left. Forward should be forward and back should be back. If the stripes are facing you, they will be reversed.

It could be orientation. When the front of the phantom is facing you, the controls are reversed.
