So, what good is "Part 107?"

Part 107, and registration is all part of a bigger plan. Compliance and restrictions. Drones possessing and use is not guaranteed, and every government see them as a threat. The R/C world has been doing the same thing for decades with no oversight. Your toy/camera platform has potential for...

US DHS warns of possible Chinese Drone data collection

It’s okay to fly a UAV over a Military Base, but not over a National Park....we must be hiding our secrets in the butts of buffalo.

There's no general threat using Google Assistant with Go 4 app. DJI Drone could kill…

I think that using such dramatic language is not helpful to the cause. What ever problem there is, there’s a workable solution. I do my best to ease the fear that the general public has about “drones”. Running with scissors could kill you or someone else.

    Couple from this morning

I’ve had the privilege to sail those waters. It’s the best way to view NYC. Even civilian boats traffic is restricted around Liberty Island.

    Drone Paranoia

You should call the power company and have them make repairs. That’s your neutral connection, without it, all your 120 volt devices will instantly get 240 volts and burn up if on. X lineman As a side note, I had a neighbor stop at my house. She asked if I was the guy “with the drone”. I said...

    Intelligent drone

My phantom 3 Pro was damaged when I struck a tree. It tumbled through the branches and fell to the ground. Looking at it, I noticed one arm bent slightly up, the propeller would clear the body by a couple of millimeters. Replacing two broke props from the crash, I tried a test flight. It flies...

    Best approach for wind speed

Checking wind speed at the 5 foot mark only tells you what the wind speed is at 5 foot. Many times you'll be sheltered from true wind, and winds aloft can increase substantially with elevation. If in doubt, proceed with caution, or wait for another day.

    Dealing with people

Many times I'll let the person see my iPad, just so they get an idea of the field of view. If I'm not in a critical situation, I'll bring it in close, and school them into wanting one. People fear what they don't understand.

    Inside flight, never again!

I have flown my indoors, but I never tried riding it too.

How many flight hour make an experienced drone pilot?

I'm not convinced that total hours flown is a good indicator. Learning control, and capturing an image is just important. After all, this is a camera platform, not a hobbyist R/C. Getting close to your subject, moving slowly makes for the best photography. Having your quad in the air is not the...

    What would you do?

Install the optional steel props, and make yourself a path.

Mechanically, how high can I go?

Be careful of wind speeds at higher altitudes. It's possible to get into a fly away situation.

Drone above US Navy submarine base, Bangor ME. Navy not happy.

I witnessed several drones flying at night back in the 70s...lol, maybe he was seeing the same one. Sent from my iPad using PhantomPilots

    Carolinas Spots to Fly

Southport is a great place. Lots of boat traffic, both commercial (freighter, tugs, fishing) and pleasure crafts. Cute town with history. AND, it's a fine place to just visit. Sent from my iPad using PhantomPilots

    Planet earth 2

I can't think of where a helicopter would have any advantage. Many of those places are so remote, a helicopter would have to be shipped at considerable cost. Sent from my iPad using PhantomPilots
