It sounds like you have a faulty P3Standard. That's the only way to update the copter. Have you already returned your copter? if you want to, you can purchase one at our store and I can have it completely updated for you when I ship it. www.coptersource.com
That's weird... the latest is Phantom 3 Professional Firmware v1.6.0040
Did you maybe put in a battery that wasn't updated? That's the only thing I can think of.
