You don't want to be holding onto the camera when the drone is powered up; you'll be straining the gimbal. All filter changes need to be with the drone powered down.

I think that is not as safe as waiting on the ground until you get homepoint. I've never gotten 'lock immediately' and I usually wait for 30 to 40 seconds until it acquires a dozen satellites and homepoint has been announced. I'm not inclined to rush it.

AGREED! If you have taken your eye off your drone (in a hover, I'm presuming), it's best to toggle the yaw before moving to make sure you're looking at your bird.

One helpful thing on my pre-flight checklist: before attaching my iPad / phone to controller Background Apps - CLOSE ALL This ensures that low memory won't cause crashes and re-boots. ~Paul

A simple solution without being assertive is a drone landing pad. You can always just tell bystanders that your drone is landing, and they know where it's going. Best reason for a landing pad, though, is protecting your gimbal.
