Well a bad "n male to rpsma male adapter" got me this weekend with the inspire 1 test. Only got out to 7000' in optimal conditions before signal lost. Checking the connector I found the problem. Same distance with the P3A.......Beware the quality of connections........

Yeah the fog was crazy, unbelievable how wet the bird was upon return, hopefully this weekend's weather is better and I can try out the Inspire with the same system. Thanks again guys for the guidance and encouragement. Now I have to come up with some nice 12v hi def screens for inside the cab...

Just to add, the amps do need to be powered up, tried running with the amps off and lost signal pretty quickly.

First test flight this morning, unfortunately a lot of fog so could only go out to just under 10000' away at 250' elevation over some farm land before losing video feed. Surprised by the amount of moisture on the camera/gimbal and bird when I brought it home! I will wait for better conditions...

new amp brackets from 1/8x3" plate steel. the aluminum was too flexible. Waiting on my power supply.......

Cables complete from antennae to engine compartment, so far soo good, need to get in the cab now

These L coms were bigger and heavier than I anticipated. Ordered 100lb holding 3" round magnets needed to support aluminum bracket, amp and antennae. N male / N male connector for antennae to amp, RPSMA to N male to connect amp to cable routed into truck. External power hack completed for amps...

OK, thanks for the info. I will try without the bird side mod. I have an inverter so I can go that route to power the amps.Thanks again guys. Keep you posted on the install and outcome. Gonna take a couple weeks, busy with work right now.

Yeah, solder onto the jack and ground and cut the squiggly line. Got it. Just a couple questions. What 12v power supply for the amps? I was going to power from the car battery but understand the regulated power scenario to reduce noise. The other question here is are you all using the bird side...
