I wouldn't jump to a conclusion that it was Litchi...could have been some problem with the drone itself, hopefully the logs will reveal something.

It should install the software directly from google play...I was messing around with one in the store today and it started the download ok, so I presume it would install. I cancelled the download before it finished as I was on my lunch hour and running out of time.

One thing you might try, to to Settings/Apps on the tablet and find DJI Go and Force Stop. If you have run DJI Go recently even though you close the app processes may continue in the background and may be conflicting with the connection between your Phantom and Litchi.
