It was confirmed a few months ago that this common issue was a bug in one of the DJI firmware updates, 1.5.x I can't remember exactly which one it was.

Sounds legit. Thanks a ton for the info. My battery failure happened at FW 1.5, so it makes complete sense to me. Also thanks for confirming the speed reduction. I knew DJI throttled it back but there are some that swear it is the same as before.

One thing I was actually very unhappy about is the remote they sent back was not mine. It was one that was much dirtier and much more heavily used than the one I sent in.
There was a wreck on Golden Gate that delayed my arrival by an hour so it was really too dark to get any good pictures or video by the time I got there and set up.
