Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

while I cannot rule out the possibility people get harassed for an inoperable license plate light out in the trail, I think this very unlikely. I’m pretty sure the judge would not take kindly to any sort of harassment of drone operators tomorrow. I expect the park rangers and other county...

Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

I thought the entire story was in the Beginning of this thread, but realize this thread was started in the middle of the story. synopsis: park ranger arrested a drone pilot (me) confiscated drone, Ipad, controller, and just to be a jerk my personal cell phone And issued a citation for a 90 day...

Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

this is at least slightly off topic. While not as straightforward as the case in genesee county, I don’t believe the dnr rule can be enforced, especially for part 107 pilots.

Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

Update: MCDO had their first hearing today. I want to say thank you to everyone who attended the hearing. There were about 10 of us, plus a reporter and our attorney. The decision for our request for temporary injunction was put off until the next court date, tbd. I am euphoric...

Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

You sound like a well educated person. We have done exactly as you said and requested all the documents and data through a FReedom of Informstion Act request. It took longer than expected, but we did receive everything we asked for. Michigan takes foia pretty seriously, it costs a...

Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

We showed up to the picnic only to find the gate locked and the park closed. No big deal. The park system is 11,000 acres. They cannot close them all! We went to a different park about three miles away. The police presence was heavy to say the least. My apologies as I did not...

Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

I agree with your points! When I’m out enjoying nature, I really don’t want drones buzzing around disturbing the tranquility of the moment. I’ve spent months trying to get this, the largest local park system in the state, to stop banning drones in their parks. At the same time, I am...

Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

The faa already has a system in place in regards to doing dangerous things with drones, like flying over people. We’re not talking about Central Park here. Conducting safe flights, especially in unpopulated areas, is allowed in all state and local parks in Michigan. (Unless there are...

Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

This is excellent to hear! This is the result i expected when I sent the first friendly email back in November. Instead, I’ve spent almost 6 months sending emails, making phone calls, going to commission meetings, talking with reporters, trying to get the attorney general involved, I...

Local County Park Unlawfully attempting to regulate drones

It is my understanding that the metro parks have since changed their stance on drones and now allow them in all of the parks.
