Hello, I'm french and i have the same problem as Virtual 27. I confirm that it is specified 500 meters distance in datatsheet for CE mode. I am really surprised to read "I can go up to around 3km" with "CE mode"... I think you are in fcc mode because the mode is automatically switched with GPS...
