He was well up the side of that mountain. I could go to the top of Everest and fly my phantom back to the level ground and say look I'm only at 20 feet when in fact I'd be several thousand metres above the ground.
That's rubbishy. I live near hills and often see planes lower than where I am on the side of the hill as they fly down the valley. Okay not a 737 but light aircraft and the airforce do on a regular basis. Point is it was clearly several hundred metres above the ground
He was way over 400 feet though. Notice he took off from a mountain side. The height on the app is the height above your take off point, not to ground. When he was flying over the lake i estimate he was flying at more like 400m not 400 feet.

Its batteries which limit the range. Ive done a 6 miles trip (3 miles out and back) with the normal stock antenna and all was perfect. Was past the 30% battery warning when i landed. I suspect with height I could go much much further but I would never get the bird back so whats the point?
