US sales only...
Looks like a UK site that's mistakenly showing dollars instead of pounds on all the prices. If they really are selling the P2V for $693, batteries for $89 each, and the S800EVO for $2K, then indeed, the deal of the century.
Last question first : Lots of batteries (well, only three, but I keep recharging!)
The depth perception issue came up when I was flying around and through trees to force me to really concentrate on controlled flying, but it turned out that controlling the Phantom was the easy part. The hard...
Found a couple of nice wide open fields at Bear Creek. Not a lot to see, but a great place to learn. Got a couple of hours of stick time in, and with no wind it was a lot easier to fly. I'm still having depth perception issues - once the Phantom gets more than about a hundred feet away I have...
I checked the WIFI range on my II today in a wide open field with no other WIFI around. The best I could do connecting my iPhone to the camera and still seeing a moving image on the phone was about 75 feet, and at that distance it was flaky. Really wasn't consistently stable past about 40 feet...
But the problem is zero camera control, other than shutter. Not that the "Play Memories" app is a whole lot better, but at least you can switch between stills and video and control zoom.
If Sony would just take the QX-100 and give it an external antenna/power connection and upgrade the app for...
I'm looking to do the same thing as you with the RX100II, and this weekend I'm going to run some tests (on the ground) to see how far I can get with the stock in-camera antenna and an extender. I don't expect I'll get very far, but it's worth a try.
I did find a manual for the original RX-100...
Drew,
Thanks for the info on GB and Bear Creek. If the weather cooperates I'll try and get out there this weekend and do some learning. Wide open is what I need. :)
Geoff
Peter, as you've discovered, the RX100 is an amazing camera. Got one when they first came out and just loved that I could finally have really good image quality in a camera that actually fit in my pocket. Traded it recently for an RX100II (always chasing that one more stop of low-light...
Peter,
Please let us know how the Phantom/RX100 combo works out for you. I'm ready to do the same thing - just waiting for some answers from dronexpert on battery life, FPV range, etc.
Geoff
Yeah, I've just left it alone. And no,I didn't remove it until I had tried tightening it - very gently. Figured I'd take a look at the threads once it wouldn't tighten, and they looked OK. Went flying today and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary with the gimbal, but I'm so new to all...
Re: CAUTION - DJI NAZA V2 GPS Unexpected Take-Off Hazard – M
So with Case X - loss of TX - the Phantom enters failsafe and returns home. But where is "home"?
One of the things I thought was interesting in the video I referenced was that the user said he thought his Phantom was trying to...
"Hopefully someone prices their multi axis gimbal right in the near future so I can be done with the stock gimbal setup."
I'm hoping the exact same thing!
Nope - same as the first one I got - no external USB - not sure about the pins, I'll have to take a look.
I just checked the screw on my gimbal and it sure feels like it's stripped. It turns freely and then sticks a little and then turns freely again. The gimbal seems solid though - no wiggle -...
