Marylander here, should I even bother flying?

I'll check it out. I'm in New Market. I've used Old National Pike Park. You get funny looks from the dog/stroller folks but no real problems.

    Greetings from MD here!

Depends where. Hagerstown airport and Camp David have no fly areas near the Mason Dixon line.

Check out Hover, the must have app for drone pilots!

I have it on my iPhone. The map is really helpful (depressing in the DC metro area). It includes the area around our local airport, and the restricted airspace for Camp David and the local National Parks. Handy. The weather is not as useful (it doesn't have a forecast, and I can tell what the...

Marylander here, should I even bother flying?

I'm going to guess here. I've had my P3 for a month, so certainly not an expert. I did join AMA, and I've been trying to keep up with their stuff. They seem primarily interested in the current model used by most fixed wing pilots - flying at a club field. My guess is that they are going to...

No drones in MD state parks?

I'm in Frederick County, part of which is in the no fly zone from DC. We also get nabbed by Camp David, which takes a nice park out of commission (I wouldn't dream of pushing my luck there), and the AT, which seems to be a no llaunch zone as it is run by the NPS.

No drones in MD state parks?

I'm not sure it makes a huge difference. It seem that Montgomery County Parks have a rule (rather than a law) against model airplanes. I'm pretty sure they have the right to prevent take-off/landing. I don't think they could do much if you launched from someplace else and flew over, but that...

No drones in MD state parks?

Looks like there aren't any rules about model airplanes in Frederick-and we don't know how to spell accordion. http://recreater.com/DocumentCenter/View/1374

No drones in MD state parks?

I couldn't find anything on the DNR site for state owned parks. I'll need to see if Frederick County has similar rules as Montgomery. I haven't been kicked out yet, but I've only flown at my local park a couple of times. I'm pretty sure the local model airport club uses the same County park, so...

No drones in MD state parks?

I'm not an expert, but got my drone recently and I'm trying not to do anything stupid/illegal with it. I could not find anything of the sort. The State Legislature has prohibited counties/towns from making their own drone laws. Nothing obvious on the DNR website either.
