It's funny because the CASA website doesn't say anything about the $9k fine for recreational use (although being a nervous flyer, I would most likely not even come close to people or flying too far away). I'll absolutely be safe like I am here in the US - I won't even fly in the city of Atlanta...
The guys channel is amazing footage, but it's so sad to watch. Glad to see they can show us a different angle and the complete destruction that's happening. Maybe it will make a difference and change things for the better.
AWESOME LAWRIE!!!! This forum is a life saver when it comes to this kind of stuff! I LOVE IT! Great information whereas a google search was really just sending me to junk websites.
I'll def PM you when I get more details of the trip. Here in the US we have an app made by the FCC called "B4UFLY" which actually determines based on GPS where you are and what restrictions you have (outside of the DJI app). It's been helpful in a few situations (mostly just telling me to be...
Great info so thank you!! I think we're going to try and stick to the coast from Sydney to Melborne which means I'll skip Ayers. But I'm sure during that drive there are plenty of cliffs to float the bird from! I'll read up on the laws around there too.
Just a quick question based on it - you turn your wifi off? I use my iphone 6s to control the P4 and I'm always concerned someone will call? If I put the phone into airplane mode, can it still control the P4? I haven't tried it, but your suggestion as to turning wifi off made me think about it...
I've only run naked at the White House 1 time. :) NICE! :)
And yeah - when I fly, I'm not nervous about losing the drone - I'm much more nervous about injuring someone or causing something catastrophic to happen. That's why I try not to fly in a city or over any roads - you just never know...
If there was a LOVE button instead of LIKE on this, I would have hit it! Fantastic info so thank you Loomster. Any idea if I'll have a problem if we go to Ayers Rock? We still haven't put together a full itinerary, but hiking is on the list of things to do.
I see the video and then the discussion about the fact that the entire video was in a no fly zone! :) And then the debate of whether it's a no fly zone or not! :) I had to laugh because it's the same on the internet. It seems Australia is "if you get caught, it's illegal, but most of the time...
So I live in the US and I'll be traveling to Australia in November and I'm thinking of taking my P4 with me. I've been looking around to see if I can fly it in Sydney and other surrounding areas that I'll be visiting and there doesn't seem to be a ton of information (and I'm afraid of getting...
I'm jealous you've gotten the thing that far over the trees. The highest I've gotten my p4 is 286 feet so far.
I just got back from Aspen where I took the bird flying. Here's 1 of the videos where I got it almost to 300 feet.
