I read something about turning off the P3 before stopping the recording will cause a problem. The camera needs to end the file before ac is turned off. It said you could put the card back in the ac and turn it on. I don't know if it works, but you may want to make sure recording is stopped...
Have you considered the big wire marked VCC on the left? You could put a Zener diode in line to drop the battery voltage down to the voltage desired. 15 volt battery, 3 V Zener = 12 V
Watch the video. It does not say coming soon. Talks about having them out of the box. I know the printed info says coming soon. Maybe by the 10th when it ships?
I think it will be fine for its intended purpose. Short range flights. What's interesting is that it has waypoints, POI and follow me. The DJI intro does not say coming soon or as a 3rd party app. It states that they are standard and working. Why are they not working in the P3 now?
The DJI firmware should work. Format a mini sad card and only put the .bin file on it. Put it in the P3 and turn it on. The RC should be off. When done take the card out and read the .txt file. If it worked it should read success. Mine had several fails in the file before the final success...
Open the DJI app, select camera, make map full screen, scroll to area you are going to fly. Zoom in and move around area. Close app. Open in area when ready to fly and the map should show. Works on my iPad w/o cell service. Make sure map caching is turned on in app.
