As others have said, the fear goes away with trust that nothing bad will happen. It just takes time. I can understand increased fear from reading this forum. Here you will find all your fears manifest in other folks' bad experiences! Mostly people share their bad experiences in order to...
Don't be scared off by what you read here. Keep in mind the problems folks are having with flyaways and so forth as posted here are not representative of the majority of drone pilots. Many thousands of Phantom drones are performing flawlessly (if you ignore human error). You won't read about...
It is possible to block the GPS signal from the drone by fastening aluminum foil on the top. Someone did this successfully and mentioned it on one of the P3 forums. Not a practical long-term solution, but could be used for testing purposes.
You can connect the controller via USB to the Phantom with the SD card in it (that's how I did it) or copy the file to a USB thumbdrive and connect that to the controller (according to this forum). I'm not sure how you get a USB thumbdrive to connect to the mini-USB on the controller for the...
I'm sure you could. I am not sure what the rules are about going end-to-end (like I saw in a P3P video recently, and it's a beautiful view from up there). I just keep thinking about when a buddy and I flew a Cessna over the golden gate and then thinking how often aircraft do that! It's also...
Uvas, Anderson, Coyote reservoir, I've been all over the southbay lakes with my boat. Now to get the drone out there (when I visit, I'm in Oregon now)!
Wow, if that's Anderson lake, it looks really low! I used to live in Santa Clara (and my son lives in Sunnyvale). I've been looking at the no-fly zones in the southbay and wondered where I could fly my P3S when I drove down to visit next time. This answers my question, "far from the bay."...
Keep in mind that both the bird and the controller need to be updated. I flew mine successfully, however, before updating the controller (because I didn't know).
Will either of these antenna mods still allow the controller to fit inside the DJI backpack? Since the ArgTek allows the antennas to be easily removed from the plastic bar on which they are mounted, the only problem might be the width of that mounting piece. Has anyone tried either of these...
It's the lack of obstructions which allows these longer distances over flat surfaces (water or plains). That and no (or less) interference from other radio signals.
