Nothing, unless you want to use special flight modes or reset your home point. For general flying missions, it is perfectly fine.

I don't know about Pauly, but I have not had a recurrence of this in about 10 flights. Made no changes, flew in mostly same places. Weird.

That iPad is not the mini. It is the full sized one released prior to the Air. It has the A6x chip. Not sure if it will work.

I think you'll be happy. I am (except for the compass issue with marshmallow). I would recommend getting an anti glare screen protector. I was skeptical it would do much about the sun, but it really made a big difference.

iPad 3 will not work. You must use iPad mini 2, 3, or 4 or iPad Air 1 or 2 if you want to use iOS. iPad 3 has the A5x processor, which isn't powerful enough to run the app. The mini 2 has the A7' which is.

What firmware/app version/operating system are you using?

I usually climb and move out at a moderate rate near the beginning of a flight to check how the battery cells react and how much the voltage drops.
