How do I check for error codes and confirm if the software deems it a no fly zone ?

I am always careful to check where I fly so not to break any rules... recently at Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire and the DJI Phantom 2 V+ would not calibrate properly or the motors start. I was just within controlled airspace, but it was only controlled from 3500ft - 8000ft so not sure why it...
