    Flying in San Francisco

That's what I thought (except for the parks part, they're banned). I haven't come across any other posts, forums, online news articles, etc on other flying prohibitions so that's probably a good sign (not like Stanford where I quickly came across articles on their University-wide no drone policy...

    Flying in San Francisco

Unless it's my new contacts prescription... those areas are mostly the same and not where i want to be flying. Maybe it's entirely (partially?) coincidental that the area I think you're talking about mirrors almost identically to the GGNRA. The area just inside where I outlined in red? If that...

    Flying in San Francisco

Sorry if i was not clear, but i understand that most of the area that extends out from the coast/land is, as i mentioned originally, part of the Golden Gate National Rec Area and off limits to drone flying. I don't want to or intend to fly there. I'm talking about areas over land that don't...

    Flying in San Francisco

I've looked around here for previous threads but didn't seem to find exactly what I was looking for, apologies if I missed something on point. I'm hoping to take a few photos/videos while returning to the Bay Area after living there years ago and am fairly aware of the airspace and parks rules...

    Drone and Travel

I've had mostly good experiences as well including Melbourne (and actually saw multiple other pilots during our week long stay), Budapest, Spain, Mexico, etc. The ONE place I had an issue was Prague. And not because of Police, but because a local thought he was an expert on the rules/regulations...

The Classic Dilemma - Upgrade or Wait

Small world. I clicked on your post because I'm in basically the same dilemma (though i only have a P3S and haven't actually purchased a P4P yet*). The small part is that I also live in the Cincinnati area (took my 107 test last month at Lunkin). I haven't shot too much aerial stuff since moving...

The VALUE of photography... please learn about it before you make a mistake

I agree with your point in there being a difference in Jim vs < insert random someone > but to some, they can't tell the difference. Or don't understand the difference. I'm still not entirely sure as someone who faces this often. But it's a problem and a slight variation of Jim's initial post...

The VALUE of photography... please learn about it before you make a mistake

Without complicating the facts or changing anything, that is correct (lawyer here). And as a side note, I've had some interesting (enlightening?) conversations with people about drones and me flying, photographing, and filming in public areas, particularly when they reference permissions and a...

FAA Remote Pilot License and UAS Registration Recognized Abroad?

Unless the laws have changed dramatically since I was there April 2016 (which I can't find information or regulations showing they have), that is not true for hobby flights. Commercial, as i said above, is a whole other ballgame in other countries (like here). When i researched flying in Spain...

FAA Remote Pilot License and UAS Registration Recognized Abroad?

My experience after traveling a lot over the past 2 years with my P3S is that it seems to always hinge on hobby vs commercial. So while you won't need to register it to fly in Spain, Australia, etc for hobby use, commercial would require it.

*** Posting About Your 107 Results? POST IT HERE!

After studying a few hours here, 1 hour there for ~10 days, I took the test on 3/14, scored a 93 (no previous pilot experience). Test results showed on IACRA on 3/16, most recent status on 3/17 shows transferred to registry. *edit* 3/20 temporary certificate issued I didn't find the exam all...

Traveling on a plane with a drone

As others have said, carryon. In the past year or 2, I've carried-on my P3S in either a hard, Pelican type case or LP Droneguard to Austria, Hungary, Czech Rep, Mexico, Sydney, Melbourne, San Sebastian and Bilbao and all the connections in between. I've seldom even had a second look from TSA or...

Travel to Italy and Greece with P3A

I haven't specifically flown in Italy or Greece, but I would assume they would both have similar restrictions/laws on drones as the rest of the EU. In the past year I've flown my P3S in Austria, Hungary, Czech Rep, Mexico, Sydney, Melbourne, San Sebastian and Bilbao and have had everything...
