Look at it from a different view. You take and pass the test and go out and do something stupid and someone is hurt or property is damaged. You have to go to court........proof you knew before hand you were doing wrong.

It's a mixed bag on that one. Some seem to have a slow rotation to the right or left while in hover or while flying long distances in straight flight. I'm one of the lucky ones as mine does not have the problem. When will DJI step up to the plate and provide a fix, who knows.
You laid that out pretty well in your original post. I would think this option would be worth testing on the programers end at least to see how it would actually work in the real world. I would also think that it could also be something you could turn off in certain circumstances.
