    RotorPixel Gimbal Technical Discussion

Quick update on my RP situation and kudos to Keri I was able to determine that for as of yet unknown reasons, my RP Gimbal was (apparently) drawing too much current from my system, which was the cause of my uncontrolled descents. Without getting into too many details, I'll just say that my P2V...

    Uncontrolled descent... two crashes

Update 2 I did more testing yesterday. This time, I wanted to test for the effect of gimbal power on thrust. To my surprise, I was able to fly and hover at around 15% charge with the Rotorpixel power disconnected. I plugged in the gimbal, and could not take off anymore. Apparently I received a...

    Uncontrolled descent... two crashes

Lloyd- I downloaded the Windows version of Assistant 1.08 from Droneslinger's page: www.droneslinger.com I then ran the Firmware "update" and this rolled me back to 1.08 on the Autopilot system. No other FW can be rolled back, to my knowledge. -Jason

Not enough power when below 45% battery

Update Ok, today I tested the unit with the gimbal and camera attached, but I disconnected the gimbal power cable. I was able to fly and take off even at 12% power. When I reattached gimbal power, I couldn't take off. This tells me that something in my gimbal was drawing too much voltage. Keri...

Not enough power when below 45% battery

Thanks for the feedback, guys. This is a stock Phantom 2 Vision with a Rotorpixel Gimbal. No other mods. The gimbal was designed for the P2V, and while it is heavier than stock, it shouldn't be causing this problem. Moreover, when I rev the throttle at these battery percentages, it's as if...

Not enough power when below 45% battery

This happens with all three of my practically new batteries. I'm running the stock Vision camera with a Rotorpixel gimbal.

Not enough power when below 45% battery

I started having what I thought was power loss issues last week with my Phantom Vision. I've since tested and found that my bird won't ascend once the battery is below 45% or so. Here's what happens when I try to fly with the battery at 30%: http://youtu.be/2Y4TSso5tNw This happens with three...

Response from DJI regarding FW 3.04

I purchased it in November of last year. Not sure that's possible at this point.

    Uncontrolled descent... two crashes

Update I re-installed Firmware 3.04 today and did a full IMU calibration (Advanced). I then took Hobbes out for testing. Everything was performing nominally until my second flight, when the throttle became unresponsive. All other controls (right stick and yaw) worked normally. I just could not...

Response from DJI regarding FW 3.04

Update: I put FW 3.04 back on today with the Rotorpixel gimbal. I can fly normally to about 50% battery power. At 45% battery or less, I just don't get enough throttle response to do anything. I was hovering two feet off the ground with full left stick and it just sat there. So, I think that...

Response from DJI regarding FW 3.04

I never lost power. The phantom decided it was coming down hard and I had no stick input. Happened three times on 3.04; hasn't happened with 1.08. Bought it from B&H in December and it worked fine up until version 3.

Response from DJI regarding FW 3.04

Ok, so what the heck am I supposed to do? Not get the unit repaired while under warranty? Right now I'm running a mix of Firmware versions (all are up to date except for the main controller, which rolled back to 1.08). I can't get back to a version (2.0) of the firmware that lets me run the...

Response from DJI regarding FW 3.04

It would suddenly fall out of the sky while under power.

Response from DJI regarding FW 3.04

I sent an inquiry to DJI North America support via their online form. After clarifying the issue I had, here is the response: -Jason

    Uncontrolled descent... two crashes

Sorry to hear that, Pete. It certainly sounds like a battery issue or other power connection problem, as you lost all power, including the camera. Check the solder points inside the Phantom to see if they are properly attached.
