    Australian Phantom Flyers!

I'm back [FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND WINKING EYE] Have you missed me?? Been months since I've had my phantom out of its storage tub, glad to say I'm getting everything together and ready for a possible flight on Thursday, I'm assuming there has been some updates since January haha

    Australian Phantom Flyers!

Any other Victorians (Melbournians??) planning on flying over the long weekend? I've been driving all week with my phantom in my work van looking for somewhere to go flying, but haven't had the time to stop. Now I've got a long weekend with no plans hopefully I can get out somewhere worthwhile...

Does anyone else feel lost here?

I know exactly how you all feel, I rarely browse this forum these days :( I used to enjoy signing in and seeing what challenges DJI have set for us. But I've found since the introduction of the first vision, the number of members has exploded and I find most threads and topic irrelevant to my...

    4 pin LED/GPS cable extension

Exactly! Amit from flytrex can make them! I actually e-mailed him to see if I could get some, and ended up getting a flytrex core aswell. The 4pole extension he was able to supply, was a direct plug in fit on both ends of the cable. I suggested he should offer the 4 pole extension as a misc...

another newb fpv question. what exactly is needed?

I only have a 200mW Tx, so it didn't fry, 600 or above will! I did hand tighten, but that didn't work out to well lol, I use a small pointy nosed soldering plyers to hold it while I tighten now, I was going to try some elec tape etc around the connectors, but that was surprisingly flimsy and...

another newb fpv question. what exactly is needed?

I have the same antennas, depending on what connections the vtx has, you might need to use various adapters, and if you want/need it 90degrees, there is an adaptor for that too . . . But I will say, be sure to tighten those adapters up tight! My second flight with those I lost my vtx antenna! I...

GPS Mode and the Compass J Hook

It's because of the magnetic declination of your local area! It's been mentioned plenty of times on this forum, and others. Non phantom Naza users can turn the GPS puck to compensate for it, but with the compass mounted to the leg of the phantom, you need to sort out some way to slightly adjust...

    Faulty Motor Replaced

Mn2214 motors won't suit the self tightening props . . . However, the tiger motors MN2214-11 motor have the correct thread to use with self tightening props (assuming you get the motor direction correct when soldering)!

    "FAA Legal tether"

Re: "FAA Legal tether" Because in the us, you can get legal authorisation to use a UAV, but as it currently stands, it's to costly to be feasible for small business. I haven't been on the FAA site recently, but there was FOI requests for a list of approved operators. In Australia (under CASA)...

Video: Installing a Tilt Control Knob on Stock Transmitter

Re: Video: Installing a Tilt Control Knob on Stock Transmitt http://www.flickr.com/photos/driffill/s ... 196915163/ I ended up installing the knob. I placed it where the neck strap would usually connect, and moved the strap connector up higher to compensate for the weight of the LCD and VRx.

    "FAA Legal tether"

Re: "FAA Legal tether" I've said it before, I think is buried in another thread, but the FAA also consider those cable strung (spider cam) cameras you'll see at the NFL in America or AFL/cricket in Australia to be UAV's, so tethering your helicopter does nothing to make it legal!

Wiring Two (2) batteries Together - More Battery Time

The way I see it is once somebody hacks up their smart battery, they might set up a system where a 3rd party battery plugs into the smart PCB of the battery (via 11.1v and the balance plug!). Then it's just a case of finding what combination of 2x 2700+Mah batteries reach the flying limit...

    DVR for recording OSD data

I'm using an FBOSD ghost. I'm not a fan of dji products that are newly released lol, I prefer to wait until any issues are sorted out, if ever. If I was buying a complete new set up today, I'd go a V2 phantom with zenmuse and maybe iOSD. But as you mention, the actual GPS co-ordinates are...
