So. I got home and popped my SD card in the comp. It didn't capture the incident I hadn't started recording yet because I was getting into position to record. I thought by some miracle, maybe, just maybe I had hit record. No such luck. I'm still doing the recovery video though and it will...

I found it!!!! MSINGER nailed it! It was right in the middle of that red box from the graphic on page two of this thread. I broke three props and the battery came out on impact. I put the battery back in and it still had 3 bars. When I got back to the truck I replaced the props and fired it up...

Yeah, and the mistake I made was thinking that the RTH altitude was 30 meters above the drones current altitude, when it's actually only 30 meters above the actual home point.
