Gimbal Horizon off by about 40 degrees at power up but will auto calibrate fine, every time.

Where's your sense of adventure and inquiry? ;) It's a pretty simple process. Take out the 5 screws on the back of the horizon motor and the cover comes right off. You'll know, right away, if your camera and shaft are out of alignment. The flat notch should be level when the camera is level...

Gimbal Horizon off by about 40 degrees at power up but will auto calibrate fine, every time.

Figured it out... looks like the 'slippery shaft' issue is as prevalent on the gen 3 as it was on the gen 2. I popped the back cover off, and sure enough, the flat spot on the shaft was about 40* off of level camera horizon. It slipped easily, I got it straightened out, and everything seems...

Gimbal Horizon off by about 40 degrees at power up but will auto calibrate fine, every time.

Oh yeah, I've flown the heck out of it. it flies fine and, as I said, once I complete the gimbal auto cal, it levels out and works perfectly. Unfortunately, something is persistently going back to that 40* off at power up. I have to recalibrate the gimbal every time. I'll try the hovering...

Gimbal Horizon off by about 40 degrees at power up but will auto calibrate fine, every time.

I'll try it again. I did an advanced calibration when I first got it, but I haven't done a 'chilled' calibration. My question is, wouldn't an IMU calibration on a surface that was 1* off, cause the gimbal default position to come up by the same 1* off?

Gimbal Horizon off by about 40 degrees at power up but will auto calibrate fine, every time.

Bought a used P3A with a known issue.. It's been down once, but no visible or functional gimbal damage aside from the fact that it confidently powers on with the gimbal tilted to the right by about 40 degrees. It will function, stabilize, and pitch just fine, but holds that horizon angle. I...

And the best setting for nighttime shots is...(Part 2)

I liked #11 and #15 (of this batch), for color saturation. Anything brighter was pretty blown out in the well-lit areas. The main difference between the two is #11 allowed for a lot more motion blur... cool effect if that's what you want.

    Phantom 3 Professional - $700

Can you clarify the "other accessories" that are missing? also, on the side of the gimbal, there's some 'sheen' missing. Has this been down? I know you said the props have some dings, but that could happen from a tipover.

Are there differences in the vision plus gimbal motors?

Thanks for the offer, but I just sold my Phantom 2.. I'll be looking for a P3A in the near future.

Are there differences in the vision plus gimbal motors?

Yeah, I discovered that when I bought a V2 pitch motor and the shaft was shorter.. can anyone elaborate on any other differences? Are there any functional limitations that would prevent a v2 gimbal from working on a V3 Vision +?

    P2 Vision+ gimbals available

Do I have the uncanny ability to kill a thread or just the worst timing, ever? I'm interested in the remaining gimbal, but I need to make sure it will function with a v3 bird. I was hoping to get information regarding compatibility and any differences between the v2 and v3 cameras/gimbals.

Why do all the phantoms on ebay have missing cameras

Because the cameras/gimbals are incredibly fragile. People buy a Phantom, crash it, toast the camera (or gimbal) and then sell the drone, sans broken camera, because they're getting out of the hobby.
