I have the Arris Gimbal with the original Phantom (version 1) white plastic props and cannot get the vision wobble-free. It used to be, but it's not now with balanced props.
Are the Vision props different?
Ok thank you.
What you're saying is the settings offered to me (in the text attached to my second message) would be too drastic?
Interestingly, I found some vision I shot when I first used the Phantom and it was nowhere near as bad as what it is now. It was really quite smooth. I thought it...
Here is my problem with an Arris gimbal:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVbnN0YRnLk
Could this be the solution?
1. Insert small piece of stiff foam (like the foam inside the phantom case) into the rubber balls on the gimbal through the centre.
this makes the balls stiffer
2. In the Naza...
Yes, I was actually thinking of removing the Arris Gimbal as well.
Here's some of my latest vision:

Any ideas?
Thanks for your responses.
As a novice Phantom pilot/cameraman, I have to say this video is brilliant as are the piloting skills!!
But i have a question:
I would never be game to fly one over a crowd of people - what about insurance? What would happen if it suddenly crashed into the crowd below?
Do you have insurance...
Hi everyone,
I am having some success with the Phantom and a GoPro Hero3 Black, mounted in an Arris Gimbal.
80% of my vision is fine. I do, however, regularly encounter the shakes:

Do any of you have any idea as to what is causing this? It only seems to happen...
Hi all,
I picked up the Phantom on the weekend and on demonstration of the unit with my GoPro Hero3 Silver edition before taking delivery, we noticed that by plugging the video transmitter into the GoPro USB port, with the camera already on or off, it turned the GoPro's WiFi on in "GoPro App"...
Hi GearLoose, can you explain what you mean by the battery door modification (and where can I get the 2800mah batteries) and also where did you get that price for the Fatshark?
Cheers
Good point, Gizmo 3000.
By the way I forgot to ask:
Any news on the Phantom 2? Release date? Features/improvements? I Heard this last week it would possibly be released in about 2 weeks...or did that person mean "announced in two weeks"?
I am so excited by the concept of aerial video for my...
These last few posts have me wondering how much we should expect of ourselves.
We have to keep in mind that these devices are sub-$2000 and give us incredible results that we couldn't get a couple of years ago. As a professional camera operator with 25 years of shooting under my belt, I feel...
Thanks martcerv.
We all know a gimbal is the answer. But what I wanted to know was is it possible to get acceptable vision from the Vision using software stabilisation. I did it without even trying with someone else's highly-compressed YouTube vision. Imagine what I could do with full HD. Has...
Excellent. Thanks for the info, appleboy. Looks like I will be going with the Vision, then. A lot less stuffing around than with the Phantom 1, too.
Keen to hear how you go with adding gimbals.
Sorry, I should have included that! :-)
It was cut in FCPX using the built-in stabilisation tool, default settings.
I guess you would do a couple of fly-bys for each shot, pick the best one and then stabilise it.
I am excited by the Vision's ease of use compared to the original Phantom with a...
