Hello! I really enjoy reading PhantomPilots Forum and have learned a lot. I have been an armchair MSFS pilot since it came out on floppy disk and learned to fly VFR and IFR over the years. I also collect maps and have all the aerial maps for the contiguous US. I flew several RC fixed wings for a few years but longed for the view from above. When quadcopters with live feed became more popular, affordable and reliable, I took the Part 107 course at a local college in 2018. I looked at Mavic and Phantoms and decided on the DJI P4P+v2 because of the better camera and the mechanical shutter. I studied for and finally took and passed my part 107 test in November 2022 however, I highly recommend taking the test within a few weeks after you take the course while it is still fresh in your memory.

I have now retired from my 30-year career as an RN, and aim to pursue mapping and photogrammetry to fill my retirement years. After some research, I started up my new business: Great Plains Aerial Imaging, LLC. For now, my primary interests are mapping, photogrammetry and photography.
