Aaaah, a drone was under the tree!

EPILOGUE PART DEUCE ........ This is kinda like that movie Rogue 1. They all die in the end. Sort of like my best laid plans. Well the little woman gets the remote start for her car. Off I go to order my drone. Out of stock. Of course that is not her fault. That's all my fault. Does this mean I...

Look what came in the mail today

That would not be so bad. A Weber is useful. It could have been this: Aaaah, a drone was under the tree!

Aaaah, a drone was under the tree!

EPILOGUE Well things are not that dark after all. My wife gets a remote starter for her 2013 car and I get a P 3 standard refurbished model. Important part of the negotiations was the remote start cost more than the P 3. So now that I'm banned from the P 4 forum I'll point out that my 3 part...

Aaaah, a drone was under the tree!

Well like most stories there is a beginning, a middle and then the end. This is the end. It's an adult story so there is no happy ending. The hero of this story ( just in case you did not know, the hero turns out to be my wife ) is feeling a bit scorned. Gift giving at Christmas time is a...

Aaaah, a drone was under the tree!

Well it's evening time. Now we have as dead air as one can hope for. Couple of beeps on the trim buttons ( hey, the brain trust that designed this thing was willing to add ONE pilot comfort into the system. ) and a flight that would normally consist 100% of PIO was now reduced to 55% PIO and 45%...

Aaaah, a drone was under the tree!

Yes, trips to Best Buy with the little woman in tow had paid off. Being sure to spend extra time looking at the DJI section and not those other drones helped to clench the deal. She even asked a few subtle questions every now and then. I should first point out for any un married guys reading...

Man Accused of Flying Drone Above Anti-Trump Protest - Oh boy. This is all over my local news.

Have a modest amount of desert here in Idaho. Can't fly in an impressive amount of it because it's a bird sanctuary. I would really like to get one. used to have great fun with RC aircraft and helicopters. I just see so much crap going on with these things that with my luck, the day I get one...

Some things about part 107 that just strike me as odd

Must admit it seems all odd to me but I've not kept up with dealing with the FAA or FCC for well over 20 years. Have not tried to schedule but I suspect it's not going to be an issue. Was excited when I found this web site Idaho Drone Company as they are just a few miles away. Called them up to...

Some things about part 107 that just strike me as odd

This only relates to Idaho but I learned that through CATS you can only do the drone test in Pocatello . Through PSI the test can be taken here in Boise. So depending on how far away you have to go for the test it may be worth checking both CATS and PSI. Saved me 6 hours of travel.

Some things about part 107 that just strike me as odd

I looked up the list of test centers on that very web site yesterday, showed a test center right in town ( One would think, what with being the capital city and all ) but when I started to check into CATS there was a drop down menu for the type of test. Drone pilot was at the bottom, Select that...

Some things about part 107 that just strike me as odd

If I have the info right he was going for a commercial ticket. His 60 logged hours? out the window, his instructor died before he signed off on any of the hours. That popped the motivation to even get the private ticket. Is there another outfit like CATS ? I looked up the closest testing...

Some things about part 107 that just strike me as odd

Turns out a local friend of mine was working on a commercial ticket. Did the study work and had 60 hours of time. Finances brought things to a halt but he is willing to get a drone license if I buy the drone. Looks like things will work out after all.

Any licensed drone pilots in the Treasure Valley, Idaho?

From Mountain Home to Middleton, just wondering if there are any drone pilots on this forum. Even if your not licensed but are planning or have scheduled your part 107 test.

Some things about part 107 that just strike me as odd

Well even for a business 75 a years is chump change. Eons ago I studied to get a private pilot license. Have a small amount of fixed and rotor wing time but more important things got in the way. The old Jeppsen manual went by the wayside a long time ago. Don't know if 8 hours of focused...

Some things about part 107 that just strike me as odd

On the subject of the test, I understand that it would have to be taken every 2 years? Pretty much a $75.00 annual cost to keep your ticket.
