Don't buy a new P4P. You definitely can repair it yourself for a fraction of the price. Buy a new top shell, a new gimbal yaw arm, a new gimbal ribbon cable and replace them all. Plenty of tutorial on the internet/on this forum
Good luck soldering back a 6-pad component with solder already applied on the board without a heat gun. You'll have to melt at least two pads a time and that would be horrible
You could also try opening the remote and charging the lithium battery by yourself. Maybe it just got under the low-voltage cutout threshold and cannot recharge because of that.
Without error messages, it'll be hard to diagnose the source of the errors. And the ESC beeping at startup, as msinger said, is a sign of hardware malfunction.
Try connecting it to DJI Assistant 2 for Phantom 4 and both reset to factory defaults and refresh the firmware.
Yeah probably SD related. Buy a UHS-1 card, format it on your desktop to FAT32 or format it in DJI Go 4.
Or might also be the video encoder of the drone. If it is, good luck. You'll need to replace the whole board on the top of the gimbal and it costs more than a hundred dollars.
Try formating...
You really need flux; the more the better. The one in your solder is not enough (about 1.5%) and will vaporize pretty fast.
You should never mix two different solders --> Cold joints... Why ? Because DJI's solder is Lead-free, yours is probably leaded. Two different melting temperatures...
Also...
I think there are two issues and the two are not related :
The remote beeping : Fix this by putting your remote into pairing (C1 + shutter) then connecting it to the phone and calibrating it
The remote not charging.
Make sure you plugged it well (I know this sounds dumb but often humans do...
Fixed for me as well. Thank you. For me the ribbon cable going to the compass board (the one on the front) came loose.
So this error message really isn't related to the gimbal. One more hint that DJI wants to mislead us DIY'ers...
Flying under 0°C (degrees > Fahrenheit) is not a very good idea with Lithium Ion batteries, just to say. First you'll get huge voltage drops and the battery will drain faster. Be careful your drone doesn't fall from the sky ;)
I did fly my Phantom 4 Adv for the first time tonight in my garden...
Good news ! The drone flies !!!!
I've disassembled the whole body to find out that the compass ribbon cable was a little loose (that's the board on the very front). The idea was given by the thread I referenced in the last post.
After reassembly, the drone flies without issues ! The gimbal isn't...
Reseated all cables and connectors but sadly nothing better.
Actually my error is : "Gimbal canot receive main controller data"
I'm trying to see if my issue ressembles this thread's : Gimbal cannot received MC data / Compass disconnected
Any other advice ?
France. Trying to repair by myself at all costs. DJI repairs aren't cheap.
None of the board look damaged. Checked under microscope.
I'll try reseating all the connections, making calibration and stuff. Thank you :)
