I have not registered my drone in the US as yet. It is possible to do so, just not from their website at the present time. They have told me that eventually they will make it possibble.
Here is the most recent communication I have from them on this issue. I received it on Feb.15/16. They may...
Thanks Jeriami, I will take a look at this. They did tell me that I would have to have a US address, zip code and that a Canadian credit card might kick back also, but I will try it.
That is true, it only is a certificate of ownership but the FAA has told me over and over again that they want non-US citizens to have this if they are to fly in the US even on vacation. Makes sense really, if the bird goes astray they can locate the owner.
I would not fly in the US without...
I have had a number of conversations with the FAA. They want us to register and you need to in order to fly there. You can fly on vacation if you register. The problem is that their website blocks Canadian servers at this time. They will eventually fix that but for now you need to have someone...
Has anyone successfully registered their Canadian drone with the FAA? I know it is impossible to access the on-line registration from Canada but the FAA has told me that I can have a US resident do it for me and just send the number to me. Has anybody tried that?
I could be a profit point for...
I had a couple of conversations with FAA folks about registering my Canadian drone for use while on vacation in USA. They confirmed that a visitor needs to register but both were surprised to find that the website registration would not work from Canada. The last person I spoke to who was a...
I would like to refer back to post #18 by Lonewolf. It seems that he may have identified the cause of the apparent "fly away". He makes the point that the OP did not experience a "Connection Lost" event but a "Video Signal Lost" so the OP could have flown the bird back if he had it in line of...
I have read through most of the posts in this thread but I still have a question. I am still on version 1.4 with my P3P. Do I need to upgrade to version 1.5 before going to the new 1.6 or can I leapfrog and go to 1.6 directly from 1.4?
Meta4, I reread this and I think you are suggesting that I can fly but my certificate is not in the data base of registered users, simply allows me to prove I own it in case of loss. Seems fair to me.
Thanks barefootbeachcombing. Doesn't seem like good news for us non-residents, it seems to indicate that since it does not register our UAS we can't fly when we are in your country. Do you read it that way?
