Recreational drone now illegal in most of Canada...

Yup, I'm still a member of Node and sent off the letter. Hoping these draconian rules get lightened up a little so I can go buy another drone :).

Recreational drone now illegal in most of Canada...

I wonder how these new (and extreme!) interim laws have affected recreational drone sales? I see everyone still selling them, just wondering if the volume is anywhere what it was before the interim laws came out? I loved flying my Phantom, but ended up selling it as it was a hassle to get far...

Recreational drone now illegal in most of Canada...

I'm just waiting to see if he introduces some interm laws for birds... They are the ones smacking into all the commercial aircraft. Wonder how you can fine a bird? Get on it Marc, those birds are a lethal menace! Heck, I even saw a songbird spying on me through my living room window!

Recreational drone now illegal in most of Canada...

The transport minister "ex astronaut, should be retired guy" supposedly has the power to put the new laws in place in the interm until the new "official and probably even more restrictive" legislation's are put into place in June. He say's he can do this if he feels air traffic is in imminent...

Canada's new laws really suck! Thankfully I live in the US.

I'm guessing he must have been pretty close for the police to seize his Mavic, a big no no even before the new rules were put in place here. With up to a $15000 fine he must have been a commercial flyer though? Since the max is $3000 for recreational. Not good to be flying close to other...

    Any Canadian fines yet?

Hello all, just wondering if anyone has been fined or charged in Canada yet over the new interm laws put in place by our transport minister? I'm curious to know if they are actually enforcing this, I've heard the "a friend of a friend got charged for flying in their driveway" but I'm just...

I would try to write a letter to Mr Garneau as well but I fear it would look like this... Dear Mr. Garneau, You're an *******! Sincerely, Me

Recreational drone now illegal in most of Canada...

It's funny, the minister of transport is so worried about my little 1.25 kg drone and yet they allow freight trains loaded with every chemical known to man to run through every town and city in the country... I know the two are totally unrelated, but it just goes to show how biased their...

Recreational drone now illegal in most of Canada...

Beautiful weather for flying here, but airports and helipads dot the landscape in the 9km zone.... Thanks Transport Canada, maybe they should offer reimbursements for drone owners since there's pretty much no place to fly them now. Dang, now what am I supposed to do for a hobby that's legal...

PLEASE READ: "Home Point Bug" may cause RTH issues

Android specific. I have read about some IOS interference issues, but the home point flyaways are only on the androids.

    Third flight first crash

Lol, I stay well clear of trees for this very reason, they have a tendency to be wider and taller than they first appear! :) Glad to hear your bird is A-Ok.

Build Your Flying Screen Using Drone

I can't see the purpose of this either? Definitely needs a much better explanation as to the reasons/goal of attaching a screen to a drone?

Wasn't sure where to post this but I gotta say, I love your newsletter! I signed up for it when it popped up on my screen, received one this morn and spent an hour or so going over it. Excellent info and even answered a few questions that I haven't thought to ask yet! :) Keep up the great work...

    Another noob joins the ranks

Hey guys! Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Stew from Canada. Been wanting a drone since they came out, and finally took the plunge. Looking forward to learning lots and hopefully getting some good video and pics from my drone :). Thanks for having me, and thank you for all the good info I...
