I connected the controller to the gimbal using the micro USB cable and updated it that way. Make sure .BIN file is not in a sub directory. When it starts to update a blue light will flash and beep.
The instructions provided for updating the firmware are not clear. I had to chat with DJI Technical support twice before I was able to get my IPAD Air to connect to the Pilot App. The first thing that I was not aware of is that you have to copy the firmware to the micro card while it is inserted...
At first I was careful to avoid flying in places where there were a lot of people and I may run into a police officer. After having no incidents I decided to fly my P2 around my apartment complex taking off from the balcony. For the first 2 weeks nobody said anything and most people seemed to...
I can confirm that the DJI Pilot app, which is meant for the Inspire and not optimized for the P3, will work on the HTC M8 Android phone. I was able to connect and fly the P3. Everything worked fine. I was able to download the Pilot app for my IPAD Air, but it wouldn't connect to the P3. I was...
I agree. I usually place the remote along with my cell phone at least 10 feet or more away after I've initiated the calibration. I once had trouble calibrating my compass on my Phantom 2 because I was too close to the GPS unit in my car. I had to turn the GPS off before it would calibrate.
I purchased the IPAD Air 1 from someone who posted on craigslist. I paid $220 for a 32GB. I chose it because that is what DJI recommends and it is lite. I love using the FPV so it is important to me to have the best tablet for this. When I first bought the DJI Phantom I didn't think the FPV was...
It is pretty easy. Mostly everything now is done through the DJI Pilot application. All you do is click the general settings icon to start the process and everything is exactly the same as with the P2. You can see where the icon is by viewing the manual. I think the biggest learning curve is...
I received mine a day earlier than expected. I purchased an IPAD Air specifically for the P3 and was surprised that the app is not yet out considering this is the tablet used in most of the demonstrations. Luckily my phone is a HTC M8 android phone and I was able to download the DJI Pilot App...
I bought the Ipad Air specifically for my P3 and was somewhat disappointed when I learned of the delay. I was able to download the android Pilot App and it connected with no problem to my HTC M8.I think the app is intended for the Inspire though.
I tested it in a suburban area surrounded by trees and averaged 1700 to 2000 feet, which I think is pretty good for what I considered to be pretty bad conditions. Much better than range than what I got flying my P2 + in the same area. Hoping to test it in more rural areas during the weekend...
I downloaded the Pilot App from the Google Play store and had no problem connecting. I didn't update the firmware. I believe that is only necessary for the Apple phones and tablets. I downloaded the Pilot app on my Ipad Air and tried connecting to the controller and the Ipad wouldn't connect...
I received mine a day earlier than expected. Charging the batteries for a test flight. Guess I will have to use my Android phone instead of my IPad Air for now.
