Welcome to the forum. Plenty of information and knowledgeable people that will help, if needed.

    PHANTOM 3 ADVANCED/ 10FT. SELFIE STICK / 360 CAMERA

Use with the drone. My downfall in my experiment was the friction from the feed hose on the gutters and the closeness to the steep roof. Too much for the drone to compensate for. Maybe hanging the spray boom from a stable pole might work. Fun to experiment.

    PHANTOM 3 ADVANCED/ 10FT. SELFIE STICK / 360 CAMERA

No, use the drone. The hose friction and then steep roof angles was just too much for the drone to react to. Maybe if I can keep the drone away from the roof, it might work. If not, fun to experiment and learn.

    PHANTOM 3 ADVANCED/ 10FT. SELFIE STICK / 360 CAMERA

Interested in your carbon fiber pole. I tried creating a roof sprayer using my Mavic Pro 3. Was lifting about 1- 3/4 lbs. no problem with that but the hose friction dragging over gutters was a deal breaker. Wonder if I could hang the spray boom off a pole instead? Thanks

Used Moss Out concentrate for roofs. Got at Homedepot about $24/ bottle.

    Roof Spray Project

End of the Experiment..... Well, after 3 hard crashes, I give up. Turned off the ground sensors as the manual says they don't like monochrome (solid brown tile roof), sharp angles ( my roof), and are not reliable under 1.7'( Was defending to ~2' to get a good spray pattern). Each crash was...

Appreciate the suggestions. I’ll turn off the sensors and try some careful tests. also, may have to come up with some sort of “drop mounts” to get the boom further away from the drone. Fun project, not sure if practical or will work, but fun trying.

    Roof Spray Project

Well, a couple of hard crashes have me scratching my head and could use suggestions. As seen from the videos I posted, I can fly this rig 20,30,40,50' with all the weight with no issues. I can let it hover until the battery down to landing levels. Can fly it all over the yard and all is under...

    Roof Spray Project

If interested, I started spraying down the roof today. Winds less than 2mph. Rather difficult to start at the roof top and decrease height and move down the roof. Was actually doing great till the feed hose got snagged on a gutter. Then, it got ugly. Out of control and came the roof to...

    Roof Spray Project

Have everything ready to start spraying. Did a final test today as this video shows. Flew up to 50' and made various changes in direction and altitude to see how stable it was. Didn't have any issues. I think I have the center of gravity correct. Tried multiple ways to have the spray boom...

    Roof Spray Project

Good idea to have some release mechanism. When I received the spray boom, I hooked it to the camera protection plate on the center bottom with fishing line to see what would happen. Lifted it up about 20' and it was spinning like an old lawn sprayer! Sort of out of control. So, that is why I...

I tried to position the spray rig as close to the center as possible. But, to be honest, winging it with the placement. Like your idea on the hose. I’ll modify the placement of the hose and see if I can come up with a different attachment. Appreciate your feedback.

    Roof Spray Project

Since there appears to be interest, I’ll update with the good and bad as I move forward. Going to install a rain suit on the drone bef spraying the moss killer. Don’t think it will be a problem, but cheap insurance.

Understand your point. This drone tech is 6+ years old so I’m pushing the boundaries. But, spending thousands on a real spray drone isn’t in the cards yet. So, will work it and hopefully won’t destroy it in the process. Much more fun than watching tv…..

The backpack sprayer controls it through the trigger. When I get serious, then I’ll wear the backpack and the switch will be right there.
