If someone threatens you and they have the means to carry through on the threat, you are well advised to take it seriously. That may or may not involve calling the police. Judgement call on the OP's part. It's easy to armchair general from the safety of the keyboard. Seems like it's turned out...
Hmmm.... held for thirty six hours, meanwhile the Employer continues to contact the police with an alibi... maybe our idea of mistreatment is different. If it were me, I’d pursue any and all legal remedies against the police.

There are organizations that provide legal services for members who have used a firearm in self defense. A sort of insurance policy provided by an interest group. Perhaps something along those lines?

like most people, I’ve seen both, in service and on police forces across the country and around the world. I’ll stand our military and police forces up against any others anywhere on the planet.
I’m not a fan of the paramilitary styles in Law Enforcement either. It’s not the signal I’d want to send to the public nor to the officerws themselves.

Yep! Guilty as charged. I expect public servants to treat the public with respect. If they all did we wouldn’t be seeing protests in the street... we’ve gotten far afield here so I’ll leave it at that.
