    S.O.S.... My first FLYAWAY... YIKES!

I just watched mine try to deal with a broken prop... I assume in much the same way the NAZA would deal with a motor failure. I agree that hardware failure could definitely explain some of the perceived fly aways. If it had enough altitude, I think it might have recovered... it appeared to...

    Prop Failure

Has anyone else had a prop completely shear off in flight? I had mine out today, flying with relatively new, balanced OEM props. It was about 12 feet high hovering over a parking lot, threw off half of a prop, and augured in pretty fast. It actually tried to recover, but I suspect the low...

    Underbody LED Specs

Well, it's for looks, too... heh. That's an awesome idea, the auto parts stores around here have tons of those LED bulbs... cheap. I'm back home this week, will have to break it down and see what things look like. Definitely interested to see what the voltages on the different colors meter at.

    Underbody LED Specs

Luckily, I have the tools and knowledge for circuit board surgery... not scared of that part. The "why" is this... I'm red/green colorblind. The lights are pretty, but really don't offer me much navigational assistance. Swapping one set to white or blue would me a huge difference for me...

I was joking there! I've done some quick lifting experiments - the little Phantom might be able to lift it, but doesn't nearly have the kind of power to control any sort of payload like that.

    Need 2-3 batteries

I sure wouldn't leave it unattended and anywhere near flammables... but I feel that way with any LiPo battery. Mine charge on a bare concrete floor, well away from anything. May pick one up to try out, though!

    Underbody LED Specs

Interesting... guess I expected those to be little separate boards under the frosted housings. Still, I'm not afraid of some electronics surgery - they're getting swapped one way or another.

    Underbody LED Specs

Does anyone know the specs for the red/green underbody LED's? I'm travelling this week, and wanted to order some replacements (different colors) before the weekend - didn't have time to take it apart before I left.

What?!? There's a video floating around with one hefting a DSLR... You are right about the GoPro - it seems like a no brainer, especially the low weight, and considering some of the gimbal choices. It is really interesting to see some of the other stuff people have made for other small...

    Need 2-3 batteries

I suspect they're all pretty similar, but for the few dollars more, I bought the OEM batteries from Amazon - the ones you're looking at. Exactly the same as what came in the box. The next question becomes how to charge all those batteries. A few people here have recommended these...

Thanks Darren! I have two new sets of balanced props waiting to go, been saving them for when I sort out the camera. 90% sure I want the GoPro Black (although people here have some interesting alternatives)... may pick one up this weekend. Dave

FlyAway Phobia .... spoils the fun ...

+1 on "-Home Lock set for China" Your Phantom isn't flying away, it's just going home.

Hi All, Thanks for all the info I've learned here. I thought I'd share my first impressions and photos: I appreciate that this thing flew out of the box. The manual is a little hard to read, but the video tutorials are great. I've been into and out of RC for 20 years... including 3 failed...
