Are the FSDO's charging for the certificates? Also, if you are a private pilot like me, does anyone know if this will be an add on to your current certificate, such as a rating on the back? Or will it be a separate certificate?

I would contact your local Flight Standards District Office or FSDO which is usually located at larger airports. Explain to them about the notification that you received. They can verify if it is legit or not. You wont get in trouble for questioning if it is real or not. But if they have to hunt...

I just bought my Phantom. It says I need an upgrade to even start flying it. Says IMU needs calibrating...but when i click on the "helicopter" image under settings and it says IMU is normal. Should I upgrade firmware or just fly it for first time?

I will say, when i downgraded to version 1.5...i only did it on the drone side...not the remote side...but i have since re-linked the remote to the drone thinking that might be the problem...not sure if that is how you downgrade the FM on the remote though.

And i have tried flying it in different areas including some of the same ones i always fly in...still no range.

no....thats whats weird...it just suddenly lost range. no crashes or anything.
