Autumn Afternoon Over Whitefish Lake - Sand Lake, MI

A beautiful, aerial view of this lakeside neighborhood.
Absolutely beautiful, stunning shots... but it looks jerky. Is it just my internet?

You're right, it is jerky. Normally, straight ahead shots are very smooth, but anything involving a panning movement induces the rolling shutter (jerking) effect. An artifact of this and other lower end cameras. Why it's so pronounced in this particular video, I'm not sure. I may try reediting and see what happens. Thanks for your comments!

I see a big improvement. Some shots are smooth as butter now, but I'm still seeing it other places. I'll watch the entire vid tonight and give you a list of places I see it. Is the video 100% speed? What video editing software are you using? I'll get back to you later tonight. Subbed your youtube also.

@BingErr There's a lot of variability in the speed to make some scenes flow better, I know from past experience that that can exacerbate this issue. Editor is VideoPad Pro, easy enough to work with, but has all the features I need. Price is right too, $39.95. Thanks again for your feedback and for the sub!

Well the jerky scenes could definitely be due to changing the speed of the clips. Usually for me increasing the speed is ok because you have more frames to work with, but decreasing the speed can make it look less than smooth.

Agreed. I think what we're seeing is pretty much the same effect I've had in the past. Yawing of the quad and/or sideways flight induces the dreaded rolling shutter with this camera, so pretty much stuck with that. The only real cure is to minimize those type of shots. Thanks again for your input.

Since I'm in Florida it's always cool to see videos like this :)
I almost always video at 1080 with my P3P just because that's the highest res. with 60fps setting :(
...(wishing I could afford a P4Pro)...
Anything other than slow Yaw or Pan movement will have that flicker look at lower frame rates...
Adding that Trees (little tiny spots of colors) will tend to show more Flicker with movement as well...
That along with the speed changes made with editing added more of the stepping-look...

I have and love Power Director 15 (got it on sale for $56)...
It has settings called Ease-in and Ease-out that when checked transitions in and out of the speed changes so the speed changes are smooth...

I just selected 1080 on your video and on my 24" Monitor it still looks pretty darned nice/sharp, so unless you only want to watch it on Large Screen (and or don't over-fly the shutter speed) IMO filming at Ultra High resolution isn't worth not being able to shoot at higher frame rate...

No Slow Motion but this video (1080 60fps) transitions Up to 5X Speed at the beginning and then back to normal when I got out to the Yacht and you can see that the Transitions are smoooth...
...(the jerks at beginning and just before slowing down are both from yaw at 5x speed)...

Very nice vid! Shooting in 4K does have it's disadvantages, but, it does give that extra little bit of sharpness in the final edit that I like, even if I output at 1080. I REALLY like the Ease-in and out feature, doing it manually is a pain. Will check that out. Thanks very much for the info, I'm always working to keep my yaws as smooth as possible..As you said, however, this camera does have it's limitation.Cheers!

Thanks and I agree on some advantages with 4K...
Takes a lot of time but I have cropped some 4K video in PDirector befroe out putting to 1080 with good results...
It isn't easy to always Yaw smooth (especially when it's windy) but if you didn't know this, going in and lowering the EXP numbers helps with that IE smaller stick input = less output, while full stick still = full output... I have lowered all the EXP on mine to make initial stick movement less sensitive and I lowered Yaw number most...
