I just took my Remote Pilot Recurrent Exam. I missed 2 questions for a score of 95%. I used the new RemotePilot101.com recurrent course plus some additional other online preparation. (Note: I also passed the FAA's Private Pilot Ground School exam 3 years ago, and passed the FAA's Remote Pilot exam 2 years ago on Aug. 29, 2016). One question I missed was about "if your sUAS crashes and disintegrates what do you need to do?" (insinuating it will never fly again). I don't recall ever seeing anything on this topic (I think clarification about registration came about after I passed my first Remote Pilot exam) so I selected "Nothing is required." Apparently, you have to contact FAA and cancel the registration within 14 days. The 14 days threw me off. I also missed a question concerning Fig. 21 in the Testing Supplement about the height of the highest tower 4NM southwest of Minot Intl. I selected 3,149. It may have said MSL rather than AGL. Not sure. As a guide for others, as I remember, the exam questioned the following: 1. If your sUAS is already registered in a foreign country, you are not eligible to register your sUAS in the United States. 2. If my registered sUAS is destroyed or is sold, lost, or transferred, do I need to do anything? You should cancel your registration through the FAA's online registration system. 3. Use of your sUAS as it pertains to Part 107. Is it under Part 107 restrictions. 4. Defining weight of sUAS as "Less than" 55 pounds. 5. 40% of the questions involved IDENTIFYING AIRSPACE at various airports from the Testing Supplement. 6. Had 3 questions regarding special-use airspace (MOA & Restricted). 7. Had 3 or 4 questions regarding responsibilities of the Remote PIC. i.e. ... (a) No person may operate a civil small unmanned aircraft system unless it is in a condition for safe operation. (b) Prior to each flight, the remote pilot in command must check the small unmanned aircraft system to determine whether it is in a condition for safe operation. 8. Had 2 questions pertaining to situations causing suspension/revocation. 9. Had 2 questions regarding accident reporting especially referring to the fair market value if the property does not exceed $500. 10. Had 3 or 4 questions pertaining to restrictions: No person may: ... (a) Operate a small unmanned aircraft system in a careless or reckless manner so as to endanger the life or property of another; or (b) Allow an object to be dropped from a small unmanned aircraft in a manner that creates an undue hazard to persons or property. (c) From a moving aircraft; or (d) From a moving land or water-borne vehicle unless the small unmanned aircraft is flown over a sparsely populated area and is not transporting another person's property for compensation or hire. 11. Had 1 question: No person may operate a small unmanned aircraft system during night. 12. Had 1 question: A person may not operate or act as a remote pilot in command or visual observer in the operation of more than one unmanned aircraft at the same time. 13. Had 2 Right-of-Way questions. 14. Had 2 TFR questions: ... (a) TFR's can be used when transporting the President/Vice-President. (b) I had to read thru a full TFR and extract/summarize from the given answers: that you cannot fly during designated times. 15. Had 2 questions regarding emergency procedures (basically have a plan in place). 16. Had 1 Crew Resource Management question. 17. Had 2 Hazardous Attitude questions: antidote for anti-authority; actions needed to counter impulsivity. 18. Had 1 question re: You plan to fly on a day where the cloud ceilng is 800 ft. How high can you legally fly under Part 107? (answer: 300 ft. - you need 500 ft. below clouds) My version had no questions on airport signs nor traffic patterns. Bob
