If your gopro has the wifi on and connected, you're transmitting a 2.4GHz signal less than a foot away from a 2.4GHz receiver. There's no way for the phantom to receive anything else from the phantom transmitter. That's why you want to leave the wifi off. When you get the phantom, the...
One of the forum users (D3weyAXD) has a shop with 3D printed parts, one of which is a battery door. He's posted about it many times.

Do you have a FPV tray hanging off the tail of the craft? Anything in that back propwash will cause the craft to yaw left and right as you fly. Most people shoot in a higher res than they need, and stabilize the footage in post.
An external magnetometer does work, I have tried that with the APM. I'm not sure what protocol DJI uses for their compass, most are I2C (four wires) whereas the DJI compass has five.
The NAZA is a good basic FMU, but the software on the OEM radio receiver doesn't seem to work well. The recent firmware for the NAZA has a signal failsafe built in too. You definitely need to upgrade the transmitter to make a usable craft.
rilot, the newest version of the APM software has an autotune feature that makes it easier to tune the PIDs. If the craft mostly flies, then use autotune to make it stable. I had problems with magnetic interference with my APM inside the P1 shell, did you have the same issue?
This will allow semi-autonomous flight with the Phantom 2. You can plug in a series of points on a map (waypoints) and then tell the craft to take off. It will follow the waypoints pretty closely. It works on either Apple devices or PCs.
Just to let you know:
The Naza V2 from a Phantom 1 and the WooKong will not give you status LEDs through the arms. You will basically be flying blind unless you add a status LED to it.
And no, the WooKong will not fit in the P2 without some serious work concerning the extra wire and IMU module.
The DJI GS uses a CANBUS packet algorithm, and it has been somewhat decoded. Unfortunately, there isn't a 3rd party GS that interfaces directly to the NAZA.

I just call mine a flying photography platform, and the TSA always loves it... After a good swab down :)
