The reason the shell has to be proper is that the arrows showing direction are on the shell arms. If you turn the top shell 90 degrees when reassembling then the counter-clockwise arrows will cause you to put counter-clockwise props on a clockwise motor. And vice versa.

I am testing out my new Garmin GTU10. I really like the aerial view locator on my computer because it allows you to see satellite images of the actual area. This is great for tracking a lost Phantom in rural areas.

When I first got my Phantom I thought IOC was something for experienced pilots. But newbies need it more than pros. I am surprised it isn't mandatory instead of an option.
